the last two days have been exhausting. our 12 year old dog, airbud, had some sort of stroke late friday night/early
saturday morning, so hannah and i carried him to the van and off to emergency we went....we spent most of the morning there,
til noon or so, and left him with the vet...it was extremely difficult. hannah picked airbud out at the spca when she was
2 years old. he went totally blind several years ago and is terrified to go anywhere beyond our home/outside. they're
not sure what is wrong with him yet, so i'll call in the morning to find out if he can come home....i'm not ready.
happy belated birthday to kelly---17!!!!!!!!wow, i feel old...they're all growing up way too quick.
the horses
are well and fortunately they help keep my feet on the ground. today was gunnar's first birthday!!!he's just gorgeous.
christopher gave him a birthday kiss and made him a bucket of pellets, supplements, carrots and beet pulp...yummy....the horses
broke through the fence friday so it was like a day at the races with the pasture horses running through the front property-then,
like nothing, going back to the back pasture--go figure....a quick yahoo to stir things up a bit.it's supposed to be in
the high eighties tomorrow, a great way to spend mother's day--washing the horses!! i really enjoy doing that...it would
be even better if i can bring airbud home tomorrow, too....
Happy Mother's Day to everyone!!!
peace,love
and rock'n roll

Located in Rescue, California
Full Circle Ranch is a small, private horse rescue that all horses are
permanent residents. I take all breeds, ages and issues. Currently, I own and house 35 horses from foals to late 30's.
Most need special care and we use only natural horsemanship.
I have been doing this since 1996 but have become a
business in 2006. I do not adopt out, sell or lease any of the horses. I insist on allowing them the security
of home and dignity in the end.
They are lovingly cared for and receive individual attention, treats, grooming and veterinary
care.
These are some of the faces of racing, neglect, abuse and abandonment. Most of them were slaughter
bound-a huge problem in the United States, especially for race horses. These are just a small amount of throw away horses
that would have ended up on foreign dinner tables. To be able to help and given the priveldge of caring for these magnificent
creatures is an honor and yet carries a tremendous responsibility. Any help is greatly appreciated not only by me, but also
by the horses.
Horses have carried humans throughout history and when they need to be carried, we need to step up and
give back to them.
All of these horse have much more to give than just riding them. We borrow their freedom, speed,
love, passion and loyalty. Ask a horse for a little and they give you their life.
Here at my ranch, we always have
room for one more. The alternative is unthinkable. To be a part of something extraordinary is not only fulfilling, it's
empowering. Things like staying up all night with a sick horse, walking them for hours, wrapping and unwrapping, medicating,
giving shots, praying they live to morning...an emotional roller coaster that I wouldn't trade for the world. Looking into
the eyes of a thousand pound, helpless animal and being able to comfort them in their last hours--what a gift. I know
that when I cross over that rainbow bridge, all those horses, dogs, cats, llamas and everything in between will thunder
towards me. I can't wait.
I am dedicated to my horses and the kids that need them as well. A small, precious few
teens have earned their way on to my ranch and "given" a horse that they connect with ( I still own the horse, pay
for costs and keep the horse here) for riding, lessons and daily care, turnout, love, etc. They are required to come as much
as possible, do well in school, keep out of trouble and help with all the horses, not just their own. Only two have earned
a key to my tack room and access to all my saddles, tack and supplies. It is a difficult process and not for all...it's
not glamorous, clean or happy all the time (and actually quite smelly, especially during winter or with seriously injured/sick
horses). These are the ones that will change the world and all I want from them is to give a kid a chance when they are older
as I have given them.
It's not just "my barn", it's theirs as well. They take tremendous pride in everything
they do, from shows to daily chores. I'm so proud of them!
